Only thing you have to remember is farming 20 acres you still need almost all the same amount of equipment if you are farming much more. You basically still need a tractor, some form of planter, would be much more simple to use all no till. Otherwise you also need to buy some form of tillage equipment, disk, plow, cultimulcher, field cultivator or an array of things. You also need a combine to harvest and wagons to haul crops to elevator, and a pickup to pull them. I was explaining this to a friend of mine that just wanted to do some deer plots. He found out he needed a lot of stuff to do just that. I would get a few old pieces of equipment that will work, and grow some soybeans. If the field is fairly level you may consider a no till planter and a nice sprayer for roundup. Sounds like fun. Good luck.
