I'd say go for it. Like others have said, if it comes out crap at least you tried. If you get it done sucessfully you will have something the critters probably would have fired down readily had they been able to graze it just before you cut it. I had baler trouble one year and got the last of ours done at least this late. Horses ate it fine. Once when I was a kid, my grandpa mowed some stumpage over Christmas. What the cows didn't eat we used for bedding. Had been a bad year for hay.
