set it at .004. these engines do not need to run on premium fuel, they run just fine on 87 octane fuel. The problem is if you buy fuel and store it over 45 days, the gas starts to go bad and that is what causes the valves to stick in the guides. Buying premium gas only costs you more money and the end result will be the same, if it sets, gas goes bad and causes the problem you have.
