The price of oil is a great predictor of the level and seriousness of Islamic terrorists and the power of Middle East governments that use their religion as an aid to oppress their people. Take Iran for example: In the 1990s when oil was cheap, reformist polititians and the unhappy populace started to gain a public voice and a foot hold on the Islamic idealouges that run the country. Now with oil $60+ a barrel the Islamic regime was never stronger, and they have plenty of money to fund Hamas in Lebanon for a Proxy war against the Isreal, which we have made our fight. And to send support to those fighting us in Iraq. You want to hit Islamist where it hurts? Use less oil and support ways to get everyone else to use less oil. Our enemies get their money from us. That "fight them there or fight them here" line is BS. The main reason they haven't attacked us again (yet)is because they are just not that strong or smart - they never were. After serval tries to inflict mass killings on the US, they finally got lucky with 911. Terrorists are not, and were not an existential threat to the U.S., but they may be getting there. The another thing Iran is spending their oil money on is enriching uranium. The war in Iraq is making us and the rest of the world much more vulnerable than we were before.

In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
