In Virginia you do not need a CDL to drive a farm vehicle. If you have farm tags you need insurance which you need to check with your farm insurance carrier--there is a break since it is an unlicensed vehicle used only a few times a year. Farm tags mean you have to stay within 30 miles of the farm--uh OK the boys drive all over the state and into Maryland--risking insurance coverage. Then there is licensed farm vehicles which can go 150 miles from the farm. Why do I know all this? Did the research with our DMV when I bought my truck. I suggest you do the same research with your DMV and insurance carrier.
