In addition to the comments by ltf you should be aware that it is likely that there is a high possibility that there is more than one problem...sometimes interelated. Attack the problem methodically and don't assume anything is good until you have ruled it out at least two different ways. I once did everything I could think of electrically on a motor and everything I did helped a little bit...but not quite enough. One night I was running the engine (this one an inboard boat) and I noticed that the alternator light was glowing, not enough to see it during the day. I pulled the alternator and took it to the shop and sure enough it was kicking out just barely above 12volts...just enough to not implicate it but also low enough to keep the plugs firing cold...and also low enough to not fully charge the battery. When I had the alternator rebuilt it was like I had a whole new engine. By the time I got to the alternator I had replaced the coil, condensor, points, cap, and plugs...each step helped a little bit. Good Luck Kim
