A 1/2 wrench fits snug on a 13mm head but it will fit in most cases. All the 12mm I tried a 1/2 wrench on was always too loose to get a grip, not that it can't sometimes.

Using a 13mm wrench on a 1/2 head will grip but is just loose enough to round the corners off so care is needed.

While I'm no professional mechanic I've turned many wrenches for 44 years.
