I have a problem I can"t seem to solve: my tractor ever since I got it (15 years ago) is negative grounded and has started just fine, but in the past few days the new battery -- which has been in it for a month will not keep a charge. I had the 12v alternator and coil checked out and they both are OK.I was told the condenser can"t be checked, so could do nothing there. The tractor will keep a charge when setting in the shed, will start OK, but sooner or later, the battery will not turn it over. I polished all electrical connections, tightened the alternator drive belt, LEFT ALL WIRING THE SAME IT HAS BEEN FOR ALL THESE YEARS, charged the battery fully, and tried to start it several times, THEN it started the "run down" thing again and wouldn"t turn the engine over. The ammeter does move off dead center, but will go drastically to the negative or discharge side when I turn on my headlights, but won"t even budge when I turn on the back light -- wired so it will only work when the ignition is on and is really bright -- but the ammeter will not move like it does with the headlights. I read some posts about a Ford N written in 2002 and there was a lot of information there, but I would really appreciate some help with this problem. There might not be enough information for a diagnosis here, but thought I would ask. Pat
