Here's what I do, & I live in MN where 20F is warm in winter, 20F below happens: About the time water starts freezing up outside, I add the proper amount of diesel conditioner (anti-gel, or whatever name they put on the label) from my favorite farm supply store. I make sure my filter is fairly new, as a minor restriction there can become a blockage when it's frozen. Thinning out your fuel with a mix works but I never tried it. I hear a lot of bad things can happen when it warms up, hard on your pump, and reduces the power available. I don't know for sure, but spending $7.00 per winter on the additive seems smarter for me. I have a tank heater to plug in when it's below 30 degrees. It is very conveniently directly below the fuel filter on my tractor, so when I plug in the heater, rising heat goes over the filter & warms (a bit anyhow) the fuel in the filter. I hear some tractors start & run easier in cold weather than others - it depends on the route of the fuel lines, fuel tank location, fan shrouding, etc. Some will start & run in any weather, some will stall out when idling in very cold weather because a fuel line gets too cold, etc. Luck of the draw there I guess. --->Paul
