I read a post here a long time ago that mande a lot of sense. These tractors a fairly low compression and were made before there were lead additives in gas. It was the high compression auto engines that made lead necessary. The afore mentioned post suggested using a lead additive as a means of slowly weaning a tractor off lead. This way the additives that coated the valves previously did not come off in large flakes, but wore off in a controled manner.
