Kelly, I think you have a trash/water problem associated with the gas. Have you cleaned the screen (inside the carb housing) on the end of the elbow where the gas line mounts to the carb. Be careful when you remove the elbow as it will distort and later leak when you reassemble the gas line. While you have the gas line loose turn the gas on at the valve under the tank and observe the gas flow. It should be a strong continuous stream at least 1/8 inch in diameter. If the flow is poor remove the shutoff valve from the gas tank and clean same of rust and trash. Having to choke the engine to get it to restart is a good indicator of gas supply problems.
