When I lived in California there was local grocery chain that contracted with the local farmers to supply their veggies. We started buying all our stuff from them even though they were just a bit higher because of the great veggies.
It wasn't long before the big chains got the idea that they were loosing a lot of customers and they also went to buying local.
My daughter was out from Nebraska and she went crazy in the produce section of our local big chain market . she said: "you don't get fresh veggies like this in Chadron, NE"
