I agree with all the posts. I love tomatoes, but only time I eat them unless they are on a fast food hamburger is when I grow them myself or have them given to me from someone whose garden is a little ahead of mine. I grew up in Nebraska, there used to be a farmer about 5 miles east of Hebron who raised watermelon, muskmelon, cantalope, and it was SO good. He had no signs or advertising as everyone from miles around knew it was good. Somewhat locally, a lot of melons are raised in the Havana and Beardstown IL area, and our local grocery store serving Colchester and La Harpe goes down and buys out of the field to put in his stores. Know this for a fact as my stepson has went with him a couple times to get product. Truly hand selected out of the field is hard work. We also have some Amish in the area, and you can count on it being good if they have any excess they didn't can.
