There's a lot of information on designing ROPS in the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards handbooks. These can be bought from SAE or found in engineer school libraries. The test for a side roll for a ROPS requires working on a slope with a ramp calculated to flip the tractor when it runs the uphill side of the tractor over the ramp. I don't remember the test speed, for sure it probably not a crawl. Hitching a load too high such as around the axle is a guaranteed way to end up with the tractor upside down held up by the driver's neck. Gerald J.
