Ok...I am still trying to find/make a rops solution to my tractor and I am looking for some real life information. Unfortunately it is in the interests of the manufacturers of tractors and rops to essentially say that nobody but them has the wherewithal to design and make a ROPS. What happens when you roll a tractor sideways? Has anyone done this or seen this with or without rops? With large rear wheels and fenders, will a tractor keep rolling sideways or will it stop once on its side? How steep a slope would it take to precipate a complete roll (as opposed to a layover) The mechanics of the backward flip seem more obvious. I realize that answers will depend to some extent on the tractor under consideration. The scariest thing that this newbie tractor operator has done was on the first day with the tractor when I overloaded the bucket and didn't have the directions straight yet on the hydraulic levers and raised the bucket instead of pushing it back down. Of course since the bucket was already on the ground this stood the tractor on its nose, it all happened in slow motion and I am still alive and once I changed direction on the lever the back end came back down (even if a little fast) In any case it was a significant lesson, and a caution that I have not seen anywhere else.
