Yeah, it`s possible. If the vss just glitches at all it should trip a code, and cancel the cruise. The glitch probably won`t be enough to affect the speedo though. If I were you I`d replace the sensor and the connector. You can`t get the connector thru Ford any more, but the standard ignition part # is S699, get it from NAPA or whatever. Solder and shrink tube the connector in -- don`t use butt connectors or scotch locks. Sitting where it does it`s pretty wide open for moisture and road junk. Also follow the harness up to where it meets the main harness at the frame, sometimes you`ll find where it rubbed thru there as well.. If your friend scans it you will probably find a code 452 stored in memory. Insufficient VSS signal... Hope you get er fixed. BW
