Have any of you used the "Lenox" system..??
You mean Linux.
Yes, it's very good, it's what I call a proper operating system. Windows is derived from MS-DOS and is riddled with problems of various sorts. I use Linux on an almost daily basis, but I still use Windows XP for most of what I do.
Linux won't run any Windows apps (except via an emulator). Die-hard Linux fans say this doesn't matter, as there are free alternatives to all the usual Windows programs, and many of them come bundled free with the Linux distribution. E.g. OpenOffice stands in for Microsoft Office, and the file formats are supposed to be compatible. "Supposed to be!" as Microsoft doesn't actually reveal details of its file formats, and changes them over time so you have to upgrade.
If anyone's thinking of trying Linux, my recommendation would be Ubuntu Linux, which is currently the most popular distribution. But having used various versions over the years, I reckon they're all much of a muchness.

In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
