kyplowboy, I have been doing this since I learned this trick since 1980. Most transfer cases are 1 to 1 ratio on the HI side and 2 to 1 in LOW. So basically the transfer case makes your truck act like it had twice as low gears as it really has, while in LOW!. It will not hurt your truck at all. A buddy of mine would split shift his truck (5 speed and transfer case) in combination to get 8 speeds out of his when he had a really big gooseneck load of Mama cows on around 20 to 24 K in wt. Oh yes it can be done. He would load up and get going to 45mph in 5th on the Low side, THEN... Clutch/feather the throttle/Tranny in N/Shove Transfer shifer from Lo to Hi, Shift back into 3, then 4, then 5! and away he would go. I Do NOT RECOMEND YOU TO DO THIS, I am only relating a first hand account of what a friend of mine does, even to this day. Later, John A.
