Walt, You are a brave man to acknowledge the dilema you are in. It's good to know you and your wife made it home safely, but think of the danger you and your wife were in not to mention the other folks around you on that ride home. I would say it's time to sit down with your wife and have a heart to heart talk about your future and inability to continue without assistance. Assistance can come in many ways, friends from church stopping by occasionally or good neighbors helping out with difficult tasks or family members assisting part of full time. My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 8 years ago and I watched and listened from a distance of 500 miles, ocasionally making the trip down for a week or even just a few days (whatever time was available at the time). Finally 4 years ago after trying to convince my folks to move up with us I gave up. Instead I took the big step, sold the house and moved to be closer. A lot closer. Being only 4 miles away instead of 500 miles away proved to be one the best things I have ever done. Although I lost my Mom over a year ago, being able to spend time with her on a regular basis is something I would never have given up. Dad is still living, and doing it independently but I'm still here just 4 miles away and making sure I'm available for him as needed. He's in his mid 80's and not in the best of health himself but he knows I prefer to allow him his freedom, but that we are here if needed. Walt you have taken that first step by posting your message, some would consider it as a plea for help. Start helping your wife understand that the two of you are going to need help, and need it soon. Don't wait, procrastination does not solve anything. By the way, my Grandmother (on my Dad's side) also had MS. Sadly I never knew her but I sure wish I had. Grandad always spoke so highly of her.
