I just take a straight edge and line up the location then put a pencil mark on either at each end or all along. Then cut the decals to one line, instead of the whole thing to deal with like a sign. Hold taught and put the edge on the lines. Then start from the middle and work it out to the ends. If real wide then work from center. If you just let it touch it will forgive you a bit rather than pressing it on in the beginning. Sorry it's so long.
