I recently bought an old Ford ,I think it is a 9N,but,there is no serial # all worn off,where # should be, its a 3 speed but the dip stick to check the trans ,hyd,rear end,is located on top of the trans case right next to the fill plug , also it has the I beam radius rods, My 2nd problem is that the gear shift had a spring attached to it and than attached to a bolt on top of the case I guess to put tension on it,when I took off the spring and moved the tractor in neutral the gear shift jumped all over the place,sounds like it was hitting gears every where,can any one tell me what might be the problem from this description,thanks in advance for any help on these to subjects,
