25 years ago Fram filters were the best around. Today they depend on soft plasting sealing to cardboard for the antidrain back valve. That's the valve that keeps the oil in the engine when its not running and when that valve fails it means every start is a dry start and that can mean rapid wear.
Ford's Motorcraft filter seems to be significantly better than any Fram. My F-150 takes a FL820S, I think.
There is an oil filter study posted on the internet, I'm not sure where these days. If Kim will let me post a link, google found it first try.
