Has anybody changed the originial hydraulic lift piston on a 1948 TE 20 Ferguson which had three steel rings for sealing with a newer style piston which uses a rubber o ring and a leather sealing washer? I've been told that the newer style piston which has the same dimensions as the originial piston does a better job of sealing. the new piston I have is for a Ford NAA. I ordered the piston, o ring, and sealing washer from Yesterday's Tractors . I've ordered a new cylinder as there was a lot of leakage at the hydraulic cylinder end with the hydraulics raised and my bush hog attached to the 3 point. It is my opinion that a rubber o ring would be better at sealing than the steel rings.
