There is a good (bad) possibility that the disk has a heat issue and warps while in place. I have seen it three times on both new, and well used clutches. The only solution is to replace it. If your freeplay is at about an inch befor you feel the spring pressure, and the clutch begins to pull when it is just a bit off the floor (even cold) then gets worse to the point it is tough to shift, then I wager it is the disk.
