We bought a new Maytag Neptune washer and gas dryer in 1999. They only had to replace the water pump when it was less than a year old. We have had front loaders buying our first one in 1955 when I got out of the Army. It was a Bendix and had one service call on it. This Maytag is always getting mildew in it, never had that problem before with any washer. Maytag installed a new kit that was supposed to fix the problem, but never did. Keep the door open all the time when not in use. A few years ago they had a lawsuit filed against them and I joined the lawsuit. They were only going to give me $100.00 and take the washer, so I dropped the lawsuit. When it requires any major work we will scrap it. No problems getting the clothes clean. They should've been made to give back what we paid and take the washer. Our daughter bought a Kenmore front loader from Sears 2 or 3 years ago with no problems. We had a Westinghouse front loader we bought in 1968 with no problems until it was about 20 years old and needed the springs replaced so we junked it. My sister and nephew are still using an old wringer washer. One of my neighbors moved out and left enough junk to fill a big dumpster and had set out a Lady Kenmore top loader washer with a sign on it saying the washer was still in good shape.
I cleaned it up and offered it to my sister free of charge, but she didn't want it. I gave it to one of the men that pick up our trash. He said it worked fine. I had better quit. Hal
