First off Linux is an operating system just like WinXp and Win98.
I worked at an internet company for 7 years up till last Dec when they closed our office and the Techsupport people always chose Firefox over anything else. So I think this speaks highly of it. Opera is another good choice, But I have never used it.
Netscape was bought out by AOL a while ago and AOL started putting their hooks into it, making it bigger, more bloated, and slower. Firefox is based on the same Mozilla code but with out all the hooks and is much faster. If you want to get rid of Outlook Express checkout Thunderbird for email.
