A week ago, I used my 400 Farmall and let it run for about an hour since it hadn't run in a month or so. Tuesday nite I went out to start it, it turned over but wouldn't fire. It was drizzling, and I thought it was just damp and would start when it dried out. Tried Wednesday, clear out, same thing. I did some checking with my tester and there is power at the resistor before the coil and power going into the coil, but no power coming out of the coil. The general answers from here were to change the points and condensor. I put new points, condensor and rotor in this morning, and no fire at the points. I am guessing that the resistor before the coil is to change it from 12 volts to 6 volts? Is this right? The test light is brighter on the inlet side of the resistor than the output side going to the coil. What is the next thing to try to get it to fire? Chris

After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
