I have seen what you're talking about and agree whole heartedly with you on the technology of foreign products. However if you research the foreign products out you'll see why they are produced like the America's of yesteryear. John Deere, IHC, Cummins, Detroit, and Caterpilar all started using foreign plants many years ago. The reason these plants look familiar to America from years ago is because they moved the foundry and assembly plants from here to there. I suppose for cheaper labor and to get around pollution problems. They pollute these other countries, but there aint nobody complaining about that here. That John Deere is still gonna be a Zetor no matter if you or I like it or not. I don't know of any domestic tractor today that is actually made in America. I don't know yet where the big Case tractors are made now, but the utility sized tractor I was looking at the other day are made overseas. The 1st time I noticed this deal was in about 1975 or so. When I noticed that my Big Green American made John Deere was really a South American model. I don't recall right off hand, but I think it was made in Argentina or Brazil. I special ordered a set of McCord gaskets here while back, simply because they're American made. When I got the gaskets in they were actually made in Mexico. So there goes my loyalty to them. I think if you look inside the engine, differential, and transmission housings that are supposedly made here you will find the primer or latex coating inside them also. All that proves is that they have to be sealed to contain oil vapors, and off and on always have had the coatings. If you can't stand to use foreign made motor vehicles or farm equipment I'm afraid you're gonna have to start setting around the house alot more. I don't like it anymore than you do. Probly less, but I don't know a heluva lot we can do about it.

Upgrading an Oliver Super 55 Electrical System - by Dennis Hawkins. My old Oliver Super 55 has been just sitting and rusting for several years now. I really hate to see a good tractor being treated that way, but not being able to start it without a 30 minute point filing ritual every time contributed to its demise. If it would just start when I turn the key, then I would use it more often. In addition to a bad case of old age, most of the tractor's original electrical system was simply too unreliable to keep. The main focus of this page is to show how I upgr
