My favorite husband left out our 1986 Dodge Ram Charger (suv type vehicle). Unknown mileage. It had 86,000+ when I bought it more than 10 yrs ago. Still runs, but very fickle. Paint is hurting, body is good - no dents, 360 small block, several carb rebuilds, brakes, water pump, radiator, tranny, power brake motor, exhaust system, a/c, uses a little oil, drivers' seat cloth came apart years ago. Retired it in 2000 when I bought my dog of a Chevy. Can't run the old Dodge down too much, in 96 the big Dodge stranded me and my horse in Wells, Ok. The Ram Charger was all we had. My favorite hubby drove 5 hrs from Dallas to get me. Wrecker picked up the 1 ton and left me, trailer & horse in a McDonald's parking lot until he got there at 1:00 in the morning. The little truck hauled me and my very large 2 horse (equal to a 4 horse stock) through the Oklahoma Arbuckle mountains and back to Dallas. I wouldn't want to ask it to do that today. P.S. Once we got a few kinks worked out of the 1 ton Dodge diesel, it has been one b*** kicker of a hauling truck and good mileage to boot.

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
