Tommy D. is right, according to my Allis Chalmers manual anyway. The advantage of Calcium Chloride solution over antifreeze is the additional weight gain. Dissolving 2 lbs. of CaCl in a gal. of water makes that gal. of water weigh 10.38 lbs. instead of 8.38 lbs. Adding the recommended 42 gal. of solution to a 13X28 tire for example, adds 436 lbs of weight, 84 lbs. attributable to the CaCl itself.
