I would low ball the guy... He probably parted out the most expensives pieces of the tractor anyhow to his friends...so you have to go buy and or replace those pieces anyhow. First go to this site and other farmall sties and see what those farmalls are going for that are RUNNING now. then try to figure out roughly what pieces you have to replace and list them out. Print out the ads List out the parts and the prices For instance Someone said between 1500-3200 lets go with 2,000 So your price would be... 2000 less 100 for rear tires 100 for rims 20 for battery 50 hoses and cables 10 for fluids 100 for towing 100 for alternator/genator 500 for your time in getting the tractor running(granted it may be a hobby but still) continue with each piece that you feel needs replacing.. This subtotals to $980...or whatever you come up with 2000-980=1020..which is all they are worth, becuase you could go buy a Farmall that is running to clean up... You have to be careful not to put a lot more money into the tractor than it will ultimately be worth to someone else. Especially the one sitting in the field 12 years of pure abuse makes it almost junk imho Martin
