When we compare back to even 30 years ago; how many flat screens does the average home have today? How many Computers/ laptops; just count the clocks the average household has; is it necessary? Not really! Where one vehicle per household was fine and a 1000 square foot home was suffice for that large family, we now want 3 vehicles and at least 2000 plus square foot homes with huge mortgages, surprising what happens when when we lose that community effort and value of partnering and building. In Alberta, with its abundance of Oil and Gas, it is the land of the huge 4 wheel drive trucks (lifted suspensions) diesel (chipped) 4 door cabs with the consumption of 6 to 10 miles per gallon pending whether your going 70 or 80 miles per hour!! Where is Society going next with all this and how much can the economy stand; let alone the environment?? Average homes here are still sitting at $500,000 to 750,000 with 50 plus year mortgages that require double incomes of $300,000 plus per annum. Actually; we went through the National Energy agreement in 1981/82 when all the Oil companies in the West stopped all drilling and exploration. Ripple effect was foreclosures, personal and businesses going Bankrupt, housing prices drastically dropped. We all survived and here we are again forecasting what will happen again? Just glad I have the experience of going through this once and to be flexible enough to adjust according! Ellis
