I know this is not anything like a Cat, but back in the late 70's, I saw a sample of a 'kit' installed 4-53 Detroit in a 1 ton GM, being marketed by the Detroit power plant distributer in Nashville Tn. Physical size of the engine was ok under the hood, but the massive weight req'd air bags in the front springs, reinforced cross members incl the front bumper, and the Clark trans they used messed up the floor board. This was in a crew cab dually, with A/C and all used for trailering, but after I saw it, I thought one would be much better off going ahead and getting a truck suited for the job. That's why I wish I could get everybody to let me buy that Mack I found! Tom S.

My model "H" even had the old style fronts with plenty of tread. My "L" fronts were mismatched Sears Guardsman snow tires, which I promptly tossed.
