A picture would help me because I dont think I ever saw a C up close.Snap means it broke?What broke?If you broke a stud,with a wrench,chances are it was cracked to start with if it was 1/2 inch stud.Look at where it broke,is it shiny all the way across the break?If its rusty 3/4 of the way it was cracked to star with.Maybe you should replace them if thats the case.
Sounds like you are getting frustrated.Just because a bolt broke dont get upset.Look at it like this,its better it happened now,and not when you were driving it down the road and your front end fell off.Isnt it?
I was driving home one day and a light came on,on the dash of my truck that I had not seen before.Took it to the shop and 1200 dollars and 4 days later got it home with 2 new injectors and a wiring harness.Another time I was in Virginia(I live in Missouri)pulling a load up a mountain.I got 3 miles from the top and the front differential went out of my truck.I barely got into a truck stop by coasting down an off ramp,and got partially in a parking spot.I called the company and they had another driver come get my trailer.I took the axles out while I was waiting for him and made some covers out of cardboard.I got nearly to West Virginia with the power divider in.I had to stop at a Lowes and cut some pine boards into squares about 8x8 inches.Then I took a 2 lb hammer and beat them over the axle studs,then took them back off and put a big layer of silicone gasket maker on them,then put them together and went to sleep for the night.The next day filled it with oil in the differential and drove 700 miles home.It would barely pull its self when I got home.If I pushed on the gas pedal very hard it would slip,and did not have enough gears left to pull in my driveway.I bought another differential the next day for 1500.00,and by the time that was over with spent over 2200.00 dollars getting back on the road.
Everything costs money any more.Gets worse every day.Look at it like this,the tractor is getting better all the time.Sooner or later you wont have to spend any money on it because you will have it all fixed.That truck I spent all that money on,worked good for about a year,but it burned oil,so I overhauled the motor myself.Costed me 4500.00 for that a year after the differential went out.Drove it 2 weeks after that and it burned to the ground in my driveway.The truck was running great,no leaks,a wire shorted somewhere and it burned down.It was running better than it ever did in the 4 years I owned it,and I spent lots of money on it.Then it burned down.I got the insurance money and bought the best truck I ever owned with 12,000.00 from the insurance and 12,000.00 of my own hard earned money.Still have that truck.Ive had it about 6 years now and never spent 4500.00 dollars on fixing it.I drove it for a whole year and did nothing except change the oil.Both trucks were Kenworths.Both T600s.One was a 1995,the other a 1996.The one that gave me all the trouble only had 400,000 miles on it,the other one had 700,000 miles on it.The guy that had it before me fixed everything on that truck that I did on mine,the differential,overhauled the motor,new tires(that was 3000.00 that I forgot about)suspension parts that I fixed on mine he had as well.
Those prices I mentioned,were about 10 years ago,everythings a lot higher now,probably double or more.It takes money to make money.Lots of guys would like to have a tractor,or a truck like mine.Fixing something up to use is a lot different than fixing something up to sell.If you use it,you get tired of the aggravating things after a while and fix them,and it makes a lot nicer machine.I never owned any vehicle new in my life.Every one had to have work on it,but a lot of times when I got rid of it,the vehicle was in way better shape than it was when I bought it.Sometimes it was in way worse shape if I didnt like it,or a few times was unemployed and couldnt afford to fix it up.Thats just kind of a part of life.You have to kind of build your machine yourself,then you dont tear it up so bad maybe.
