I don't have sales numbers and I'm not going looking for them, but the 25% figure is simply not logical to me. There were still a lot of manufacturers on the go in those days and it would have been odd for any one of them to carry that kind of market share as a company, let alone as a model. If that figure was true, I'd expect that is was about the only model that Massey sold much of in the UK... which is perhaps possible. The 4000 and 5000 were Ford's major models at the time; certainly not the 2000 or 3000.
As far as the 'book' is concerned, I take Stuart Gibbard's work to be fairly serious rather than simply a fan book. 1. because it contains a large amount of information on Ford, provided by Ford, and 2. Although he claims to be quite partial to Ford, it's not the only comprehensive history he's written. I forget now without looking, but his other works are listed, and there were several. Massey may have been among them... So I'd think he has a wealth of historical information, sales data and such on many brands. I'd not expect that depth of research from a magazine, but I'm not familiar with the one cited.
So, are we letting this one to the archives yet? It's on page 7 as I write....

Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
