A friend of mine has gotten the bug.In his 50s and never been on a tractor. Has bought 2 in a month. 51 deere B, and a 38 deere A. We need help as he is treading area Im not good in.We had to take the generator off the 51 and have it rebuilt and changed to 12 volt.After reinstalling the generator now the tractor that would start at the drop of a pin wont fire at all.No fire at all at the plugs.Does still have a mag.Nothing else has been messed with to our knowledge.Electric isnt my thing but am understanding of the basics.Someone suggested that the points on the mag are stuck? Does this make sense to anyone. Tractor 2. This old A is a hand start on the flywheel.I know the basics of hand starts: Open cockports,Roll to compression and then pull hard.I can start it,others have but buddy cant. I am looking for any other ways to explain the rolling up to compression factor to someone who hasnt got a clue what we are talking about. Any .02 is accepted. I want him to enjoy his choice of fun and lower his flustration level. Though maybe if he is flustered enough I could get a deal!! No I dont do that to friends. Thanks to all of you in advance.
