Crawlers were in fact invented in California for muck farming. There are pictures of the huge drive wheels people used on early tractors until an outfit named Holt came along and invented tracks. They later became an outfit named Caterpillar. Somebody said they are still around. Steel tracks are a high maintenance item and it's hard to move along paved roads with them any distance unless they've been fitted with rubber pads. There is sort of a resurgence in the higher hp machines toward rubber tracks...that Caterpillar outfit sort of started it, Deere and Case have their versions. The truth is, tracks really don't buy you much unless you need low ground pressure, or haven't got the right configuration of tires and tire pressure on your basic 350 or 400 hp behemoth. Or unless you just like tracks. Go for your Oliver! They used to use 'em up home in Wisconsin on muck farms all the time.
