You have demonstrated that the Ford does what you want and the other one doesn't. You might check to see if there's a Ford parts place nearby before you commit to going to the Ford, but there probably is. Another choice might be a Massey 35 or 50, or maybe a wide front Allis D-15, but it you like the Ford go for it. You know, Kubota makes 35 or 40 hp tractors. Go ask 'em what those things cost, and then enjoy that Ford.

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned.
