Had a guy wanting to buy a car from me but was waiting on his pay to get settled (just arrived in country and is using taxis to get to work and around). Anyway, I remember what it was like when I first got here, so figured I'd help the guy out. Met him Friday and drove him to the insurance office, paid the initial insurance for him, and let him drive the car for the weekend with the intent of meeting and transferring the title this morning. Worked a 12 hour shift and went to meet the guy, no show. Got ahold of him at his office and he said there was a problem with the car and he didn't want it (had the whole weekend to tell me that). Told him to call the insurance place and cancel the coverage I had just paid for and park the car back where he had picked it up and drop off the keys at my office. FF to this evening and I'm back to work and check out the car, only thing I can see is there is about a half tank less gas in it. Call the insurance lady at home (old friends) to see if he had cancelled and if she had tore up the check I wrote, and she said that he called her with info on another vehicle and transferred the coverage.
What a guy........... Took advantage of my hospitality and shopped for another car. Sucks when you have to think twice before doing a good turn for someone.
On the brite side though, a young Joe w/ a wife +2 has been looking for something affordable and dependable I called him and he'll be here in a few to check it out.

Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
