The US went off the gold standard about 40 years ago. No wonder that film showed old cars. The gold was sold off many decades ago. The govt just prints $$$$$. They have collected up out of circulation all paper money that said it was backed up by gold or silver. Maybe one of our expert historians has all the dates and details.
Bottom line.... most of us have lived a good part of our lives without the dollars being backed by gold. Did it affect our ability to buy houses, cars, groceries, services?? Did you refuse to accept pay from your employer because it wasn't redeemable in gold?? Move on!!! It ain't 1950 anymore.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
