Sounds to me like it could possibly be a Bolens Ridemaster. Did it have green paint and yellow wheels? Were the front lug tires close together? Was there a seat in the middle over the top of a funny looking rear frame where the rear wheels were set far apart? Just my thoughts on what you described.
