By the picture in the shop manual there is nothing holding the seal in place. The threads you are seeing are for a cap that screws in to cover up the pto shaft. There are two snap rings one on each side of the bearing, then the oil seal goes in, it must just press in, as there is nothing shown in the book that would hold it in. Good Luck. I have a 154, and love it.
