Maybe the fine folks in Missouri wouldn't want a poor hillbilly amongst them..that, I can understand.
I think people define 'farmland' in many different ways. To folks from the plains...it's tabletop flat, is measured in 'sections' and unless you own at least 10 of those sections, you're not really a farmer. OK...I can understand their way of thinking...if I were from one of those places. I come from an area where the main cash crop was tobacco, a nice piece of bottom land is 60 acres, and a damned fine farm has 100 acre bottoms and is a rare commodity. Mostly, you will find small farms..old family homesteads, that are 120-150 acres...with perhaps 25 acres tillable tractor land...the rest is hills and most of the greedy fools have clear cut them.
I am looking for a happy medium.....rolling land...not straight up and down, not flat and denuded of timber. I don't own a Combine (lord..how will I get to church?), don't want a combine, don't need a dairy barn or a herd of Holsteins. I don't want a herd of goats either..just so I can find a path out, back to civilization.
I just hope to find decent land, at a reasonable price, good schools for my kids not too far away..and peace and quiet. It's not that much to ask really...I just need to be pointed in the right direction.
