Yes the 4.6 likes to wind. Its HP peak is at least 4700 rpm. With 3.08 and .75 overdrive transmission its chugging along at 2200 rpm at 60 and thats lugging that engine. My gas mileage didn't change when I changed the gears. I expected it would. It certainly drives nice with 4.10 gears. I hated to loose the effective overdrive, but with the unchanged gas mileage I've lived with it for about 9 years and it has a long life yet, I plan.
