I live in Montana and have a few horses and a new cow on 10 acres. I have always done chores manually (by Hand) or with my old truck but I am now considering buying a used tractor to help with the chores like dragging my pastures (breaking up manure), drilling fence posts (I dig now by hand) and maybe even snow removal if a tractor can handle that.My questions are: -What tractor size do I need for such chores on a small acreage like mine? -I would imagine I need a PTO for an auger and a loader or blade for snow. Can tractors move large amounts of snow? -what for snow removal is better a blade or a loader? I have seen Kubota tractors but they are very expensive, would a older tractor such as an Allis Chambers or John Deere "B" or Ford "8N" tractor be good? I am not mechanically inclined at this point so I would need something dependable. Are 1940 or 1950 tractors dependable or easily repairable? Thank you for the info I have alot of questions and don't know where else to turn. Sincerely, MT Greenhorn
