Today while I was off the Ford 801 diesel left idling, and was changing implements, the engine seemed to start missing and started knocking like the valves were chattering, pinging or high pitch knocking getting louder and louder.I ran and cut the engine off.About thirty minutes later I decided to start it at a low idle and try to find the location of the noise.Well the engine ran good and no knocking. The problem is I"m afraid to run the engine faster for fear of a rod going through the block. Anybody ever had that happen? What could it be? Oh,has full oil level.. Kinda sounded like an engine sometimes when it starts knocking a few seconds after using ether.Could it be caused by water or trash in the fuel? Thanks Eddie
