a friend who used to be a county deputy got a call one night to go to the home of a 70 year old one who lived in a wooded area of a less than reputable community. When ho got there her front porch had 30 carbine brass laying all over it. Her son had given her a 30 cal carbine with a 30 round clip, and when a couple of prowlers tried to break in through a window she stepped out on the porch and emptied the carbine into the woods they ran into. She was standing in the doorway still holding the carbine and said she didn't know what to do. When I asked Walter what he did, his reply was "I showed her how to reload". Deputies in the Mo. hills have a different outlook than ones in New Yawk.
