Two problems with that idea: First, there's no way for the solvent to penetrate into blocked passages; you need to dismantle the carb and clean them out with a piece wire or possibly compressed air. The second problem is that MEK will wreck any rubber parts it comes in contact with. It's fastest and safest to take the carb apart.
