Yeh, the six little 7/16ths and drop it about an inch. At that gap, you'll see the shift rod connected together with a two bolt connector. Take out one of the bolts and the whole lower should drop. If it doesn't, a bit of prying will help it along. You'll have the lower with the driveshaft sticking up. On the driveshaft, at the lower is the housing for the impeller. If you replace the impeller, you might consider replacing the housing. I'm trying to remember. It's been a while. You try to move the fly wheel in the power head? Your shift rod could also be stuck somewhere. Before you drop the lower, do check out the linkage. Also....that motor has to have the throttle all the way to slow to be able to shift. Did you check that? Take the cover off and facing the power head, on the right, low, you'll see the interlock for the shifter. It locks out the shifter so that you can't start it in gear. CRS is kicking in hard.
