My story; in early 1983, I was fired from my brokerage job because of reporting my office manager’s activity, which amounted to theft of company funds. The parent company claimed to be clearing more trades, and was I think, on the NYSE than any other firm. After I sued them, in a six day trial in U.S. District Court, they said they fired me because I pursued the matter up to our president, after lower level people told me that there was no problem and to forget it. The jury awarded me just over $100K but with the litigation costs and the time I invested pursuing it, it was not monetarily profitable to go after them. However, there was a lot of satisfaction in showing that I was right all along; too bad you can not sell satisfaction. Here is a link that brings a lot of memories back:
